The idea to this blog came from readers of my article about My Setup of my own cloud published on Lars Bobach Blog on 11 Jan 2017.

I was asked several time if I would not have a blog to provide more knowledge and possibilities about the own cloud.

How To Do: The Workflow

Convert from a paper-based to a paperless user!


Any post that arrived I will scan with my ScanSnap once a week or more depending on the amount.

Very urgent or important post I will scan with my mobile using ScannerPro. ScannerPro will send the file generated (pdf) to my own cloud and DevonThinkProOffice (DTPO) will manage the import.

AirMail: Help! The rules does not work automatically...

The automatic rule for my import of emails to DevonThink does not work - I will get an error "not valid rule". Do you have an idea?

If I use the keystroke shortcut it works fine.

Actually, there is an issue but AirMail has applied their own rule that all rules needs to be adapted to older emails too. That's funny but it is the way it is...

If you use before any actions "mark as read" it works then automatically.

I wanted to use the script for Apple Mail within Devonthink to use it for AirMail. Unfortunately, it did not work. I cannot really say, that I am confident with Apple Script. Can you please help? DevonThink: How to save your folder structure?

I have my folder structure on a Synology NAS (DS115) and cannot search using the board functions like Spotlight. I trust for this I would need another app like Devonsphere Express in order to search the content of my NAS with my MAC.

I engage with DevonThink for a long time, however I think - as you have said - using a SyncStore will be a much better solution.
